Validation Requirements in QAD Upgrades

With many companies considering or executing upgrading their current version of QAD to the 2020 version of AUX or .NET, validation always comes up as a part of the project, particularly in the Food, Medical, and Pharma industries.

Validation establishes documented evidence that demonstrates a procedure, process, or activity carried out in testing and then in the production environment meets your company’s defined processes as well as official regulatory standards.  Validation is required if your company manages, controls, and tracks the manufacturing and distribution of medical devices and pharmaceutical products.

Validation is also essential to ensure that the processes in use in your organization will consistently produce the expected results. Hence, the qualification of systems and equipment used in your process becomes part of the validation documentation.

Don will take you through the validation process, outlining the critical steps in the documentation.

How To Use QAD Schemas to Interpret Data

A schema is a cognitive framework or concept that helps organize and interpret information. Schemas are used everywhere in QAD.  Don will help you understand how useful schemas can be and how to use them as guidelines when analyzing the vast amount of information in QAD.  Don will cover Item, Customer, and Supplier schemas and the application of Number Range Management in the QAD environment.

How Configured Items Improve Inventory & Cost

A Configured item is any service component, infrastructure element, or other item that must be managed to successfully deliver a product or service. Don will show how configuring an item or process can significantly improve inventory and cost. Configured items can also give your customers greater flexibility in defining their requirements. Don will discuss Item Definitions, Production Structure considerations, configured Item options, mandatory fields, Sales Order processing, final assembly processes, shipping, and more as they relate to configured items.

How to Handle a Recall

Recalling a product can be a devastating action for any company on many levels. Not only does it compromise your reputation, but it can also create an internal management nightmare.  Luckily, QAD provides tools such as Lot Control, Item Numbering, Product Structure Control, Routing Maintenance,  Work Order, and Production Order processes to control, track, and ultimately resolve recalls.

Don will review these toolsets and show how you can use them to ease the management nightmare of a recall circumstance.

Fixed Assets: tracking what you own & where it is

The Fixed Asset module in QAD allows you to document, track, value, and report the status of various assets in your organization. Land, buildings, office equipment (sometimes referred to as PPE – Property, Plant, and Equipment), machinery, tools, and IT appliances are all types of assets purchased for long-term use. This module helps you record your assets accurately to your organization’s balance sheet as contributions to your company’s net worth. Don will cover Fixed Asset functions such as Books, Calendars, Depreciation Methods, Locations, Classes, Reporting, and Retirement.
