Manufacturing Day is October 4, 2019

Over the next ten years, the U. S. manufacturing industry will need to add 4.6 million manufacturing jobs, according to a study by The Manufacturing Institute and Deloitte. The study also predicts that 2.4 million of those jobs may go unfilled.

Today, manufacturers are struggling to fill 500,000 jobs that remain vacant in the U.S. A recent National Association of Manufacturers study says that 69% of respondents cite the inability to find skilled workers as one of their top challenges.

Manufacturing Day, produced by the National Association of Manufacturers and the Manufacturing Institute, is actively working to “change public perception of manufacturing, inspire students to pursue manufacturing careers, and strengthen the future of manufacturing by avoiding the talent shortage on the horizon.” That’s an ambitious goal and one that they are coming closer and closer to meeting each year.

Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) takes place on October 4th. The day is designed to help manufacturers introduce students, parents and teachers to the number and nature of modern manufacturing careers.
