Very often MFG/Pro users see a need to build an interface between MFG/Pro application and MS Access applications and the challenge is that MFG/Pro typicaly resides on linux/unix platform whereas MS Access is on Windows platform, this makes real-time interface to somewhat difficult.

32 Soft offers MFG/Pro user's community a FREE solution to the problem. Cross-platform Progress-Access bridge solution allows MFG/Pro user to run a menu program and perform real-time import-export operation between QAD progress databse and MS Access Database.

The bridge consists of 2 parts, a client one - should be placed on the progress application server, where MFG/Pro *.r programs are executed. And another one is server piece - should be running as a Windows server on any Windows server platform. In the nutshell, the server program is a robust multi-thread Java application, which is capable to handle multiple clients requests at a time.

Your progress program will call Bridge's client program which will communicate with its server and then to MS Access. The same way the data goes both ways, to MS Access and to Progress database.

Since .NET and Desktop user interfaces call character progress programs, pjaBridge can be used in any QAD user interface.

The file is an encripted progress program (XRC), which will have to be compiled in your standard MFG/PRO environment into your ..\xx\ directory (custom programs). The you can either run it from MFG/PRO command oline or install in the menu, using 36.4.4 Menu System Maintenance.
This report was tested in various MFG/PRO versions, including v9.0, eB and eB2.
