Our client was relatively small manufacturing company, who wanted to improve production reporting practices. They use to practice paper based data collection from production floor. Quantity completed and run time per work order would be recorded on a paper form and be handed to the office, where another person would key in the data to QAD, performing backlash and Ship-confirm transactions.
Our client wanted to streamline the process and improve accuracy in the system.
We have added barcode image to be printed in WO ticket, when “WO print/release” QAD menu is executed.
Then we developed QAD menu program shown below.
At completion, user scans the barcode image on the WO ticket, locating WO record in QAD. The system defaults quantity completed and standard run time, which can be adjusted, but often accepted as is. When needed, user executes Ship-confirm transaction by changing “Ship SO line” parameter to YES.
The next thing our client asked was to move this program out from QAD menu to a stand alone application, so they would not tie up extra QAD licenses for barcode stations, that wound be sitting idle 90% of the time.
Below is a printscreen of QAD license-friendly stand-alone Backflash program. Over 15 people can share one QAD license, performing real time transactions in QAD using this program. It can be run from a barcode reader, handheld device or any PC via WiFi.
If required, other QAD transactions can be added to this application.
